OVERVIEW
The BioLign™ VBR is a Titanium expandable cage, indicated for thoracolumbar and upper-thoracic / cervical corpectomy procedures.
The BioLign VBR is a vertebral body replacement device indicated for use in the thoracolumbar / cervical spine to replace a diseased or damaged vertebral body caused by tumor or fracture, to restore height of a collapsed vertebral body, and to achieve decompression of the spinal cord and neural tissues.
It is intended to be used with supplemental internal spinal fixation systems for use in the thoracic and lumbar spine. Allograft or autograft material may be used at the surgeon’s discretion.
The thoracolumbar device features a unique modular system whereby the user can select from modular end plates, providing options for end-plate size lordosis angle. The upper thoracic / cervical device feature a variety of fixed endplates. Both devices features locking screws that are placed in a circumferential pattern around the adjusting nut, allowing easy access for locking of the telescopic movement.
DESIGN
The Biolign® VBR System consists of a cylindrical shape that can be telescopically lengthened or shortened by means of a threaded shaft and nut. The device is manufactured from Titanium 6Al 4V. The endplates of the System are serrated aiding in prevention of movement of the expandable device after implantation. These endplates are available in a variety of diameters, and angles, and in case of the thoraco- lumbar models are modular. The device features cavities that can be filled with bone graft.
